About

I grew up surrounded by books and read constantly before I left my beloved fictional worlds for personal pursuits. Then, two years ago, I discovered indie and self-published books and once more fell in love with reading. If this blog were to be dedicated to anyone, it would be to all the undiscovered and undervalued writers out there. I’m cheering you on!

“So please, oh please, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away, and in its place you can install a lovely bookshelf on the wall.”

Roald Dahl

A little more about me…

I grew up spinning story after story for my younger siblings. Some were written and some were enacted, but all were a great joy. Now all three of us have hopelessly fallen for the written word.

“Show me a family of readers, and I will show you the people who move the world.”

Napoléon Bonaparte

However, I do admit to reading significantly more than I write. My days consist of half-filled diaries, client manuscripts, rambling English papers, and many a stack of books. When it comes to this last aspect—which is also my favorite aspect—I admit to needing a little help. I don’t have too many books. I just have a need for more shelves. Can anyone else relate?

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”

Walt Disney

My favorite genre is fantasy. I also often find myself reading lots of young adult, historical fiction, mystery, and clean romance. Faith-based authors are unquestionably my favorite, and The Silmarillion is and shall always be my most-loved novel. Unsurprisingly, J.R.R. Tolkien is my favorite author. I admit to having an entire shelf of his works and will soon need space for more! However, I also love the writings of William Shakespeare, C.S. Lewis, Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, H.S.J. Williams, R.J. Anderson, Nadine Brandes, Sara Ella, Emily Hayse, and Morgan L. Busse.

“The person who deserves most pity is a lonesome one on a rainy day who doesn’t know how to read.”

Benjamin Franklin

If you mention books, Middle-earth, academia aesthetics, candles, nature, theology, classical and thematic music, and/or Clamavi de Profundis, do know that you will immediately have my attention.

“All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.”

St. Francis of Assisi

Thank you so much for stopping by my corner of the internet. 🤎 It means the world to me! Shalom, my friends.

“The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.”

J.R.R. Tolkien

  1. I just realized I never responded to this😅
I would recommend it, it’s different. They are not all mysteries, but they are all mind turning and the stories make you like them a lot.

    1. Hello, Kathy! Thank you for your support! I saw that you’ve been blogging for an impressively long time: do you have any tips for a relatively new blogger like me? Any advice you’ve got would be much appreciated! 🤗🤎

        1. That’s great advice. I have this problem sometimes where I’m scared to blog unless someone forces me to because I’m afraid things won’t be perfect. 😭 I’ll try to keep your advice in mind when I have those thoughts. ❤

    1. Hi M.C.! I’m SO sorry for the late reply, but I hope we can still fan about CDP together!😅🤩 Honestly, I don’t care what anyone else says…“The Battle of Sauron and Finrod Felagund” is my absolute favorite! Which of their other songs do you like?

        1. Hold on a minute…I’m going to go relisten to “Song of Kings” right now. 😍

It is also so cool that you mentioned listening to “The Ents’ Marching Song” while driving! My sister LOVES working out to that song. She’ll be happy to hear she’s not alone! 😆

  2. Ahh I share so many of your favourites! I love historical fiction and fantasy but I think my favourite genre would be mystery or sci-fi, haha! Tolkien is such a magnificent writer – his works are timeless! Lovely meeting you Lily! Your blog’s so ethereal!

    1. Thank you again for your kind words! I’m not very into sci-fi (Star Wars is amazing, though), but I do also love mystery! Do you have any favorite authors who write/wrote mystery, by the way? I’d love recommendations if you have some!

        1. Do you have any sci-fi book recommendations? 😍 And ooh, what is your favorite Agatha Christie book? Our family has been watching the old 1989–2013 Poirot series for ages; they are what got me to the books. 🙂

          1. Ooh I think The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a good one, if you haven’t read that! Seize the Night by Dean Koontz was also interesting!
Ahh definitely And Then There Were None! It’s so clever and brilliantly written! What about you?

Oh that’s so cool! I had no idea there was a series!

    1. I LOVE this comment! 😍 Happy to have met someone else with excellent musical tastes. 😉

(But seriously, you know Clamavi de Profundis as well? I adore their music!)

    1. Hi Sharon; thanks for visiting! ✨ It took lots of sitting around to figure everything out. Good learning process, though, and I’m so glad I did it!

    1. Really?! That’s great! My absolute favorite is the Psalms. I like theology and learning history and such, but I connect with the Psalms the most. They’re proof that God cares and that He uses broken people (e.g. David) to do great things. That, to me, is very beautiful. How about you? Do you have a favorite?

      1. I love Psalms when I’m struggling or worried or anxious. I listen to the word at night. I have to listen to something to help me sleep.
My favorite books of The Bible are 1&2 Samuel, Luke, Mark, Ephesians……. Judges…. Ect…😉

        1. Yes, that’s why I love the Psalms as well!

Oh, do you? I love to listen to Christian Radio at night. It’s not exactly the Bible, but it is just as encouraging. If you’re in the Midwest, you should definitely do a search for “Faith Radio” and see if they have a station in your area. They also have an app as well as amazing podcasts; my favorite is “Guy Talk” on Thursdays with Bill Arnold. 😊

          1. I don’t have permission to search things up on the internet. But I might come across them someday.
What is your favorite Agatha Christie mystery? Do you like Poirot or Miss Marple better? Have you read The Mysterious Mr. Quinn?

          2. Oh, ah well!

I haven’t read The Mysterious Mr. Quinn yet. Would you recommend it? I looked it up on Goodreads, but I don’t think many of my Goodreads friends have added it to their shelves. Poirot is superior, but I’m also less familiar with Miss Marple. I’m going to be trying out some more audio versions of Christie’s works and am excited about it!
